Gate 2015 Notification,Syllabus,Application Form,Exam Date:

 The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) through their Notification have invited Online Application in respect of GATE-2015.

The GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) Website shall open on 01.09.2014 for Enrolment, Application Filling and Application Submission.

Gate Notification 2015

The submission of Application through Online Registration shall commence on September 01, 2014.  The last date of receipt of Online Application Form from the candidates is October 01, 2014.

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc.) and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) jointly administer the conduct of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering – 2015.

The operations related to GATE in each of the 8 zones are managed by a zonal GATE Office at the IITs or IISc. The Organizing Institute (OI) is responsible for the end-to-end process and coordination amongst the administering Institutes. The Organizing Institute for GATE 2015 is IIT Kanpur.

GATE – 2015 e-Admit Card / Hall Ticket:

The Indian Institutes of Technology shall generate on 17.12.2014, the zonal GATE websites the GATE – 2015 Admit Card / Hall Examination Tickets.  The candidates desiring to appear in the GATE-2015 would be able to download their respective GATE – 2015 Call Letters from the Zonal GATE Websites from the 17th of December 2014.

Our team shall bring quicker reminder in this regard for the candidates and display on the date of downloading GATE – 2015 Admit Cards.

GATE – 2015 Syllabi:

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering -2015 shall consist of

General Aptitude (GA): Common to All Papers

1. Verbal Ability: English Grammar, Sentence Completion, Verbal Analogies, Word Groups, instructions, Critical Reasoning and Verbal Deduction.

2. Numerical Ability: Numerical Computation, Numerical Estimation, Numerical Reasoning & Data Interpretation.

*XE (Engineering Sciences) and **XL (Life Sciences) papers shall be of general nature and will comprise the Sections listed in the above table. More detailed explanation is furnished hereunder:

General Aptitude Questions

All the papers will have few questions that test the General Aptitude (Language and Analytical Skills), apart from the core subject of the paper.

XE Paper

A candidate appearing in the XE paper has to answer the following:

  • Section A – Engineering Mathematics
  • GA – General Aptitude
  • Any two of XE sections B to G

The candidates shall have the choice of two sections from B to G during the Examination after viewing the questions. The candidates would have to answer only two optional sections at a time.

A candidate willing to change midway of the examination to another optional section must first choose to deselect one of the previously chosen optional sections (B to G).

XL Paper

A candidate appearing in the XL paper has to answer the following:

Section H – Chemistry

GA – General Aptitude

Any two of XL sections I to M

The choice of two sections from I to M can be made during the examination after viewing the questions. Only two optional sections can be answered at a time. A candidate wishing to change midway of the examination to another optional section must first choose to deselect one of the previously chosen optional sections (I to M).

Duration and Examination Type:

The GATE – 2015, shall consist of a Single Objective Test paper of THREE (03) hour duration that contains 65 questions carrying a maximum of 100 marks. The question paper will consist of both multiple choice questions (MCQ) and numerical answer type questions.

The pattern of question papers is available on the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur GATE -2015 Website.

The Examination for all the papers will be carried out in an ONLINE Computer Based Test (CBT) mode where the candidates will be shown the questions in a random sequence on a computer screen.

The candidates shall have to either select the answer (for MCQ type) or enter the answer for numerical answer type question. The candidates will be provided with scribble pad for rough work and these have to be returned back after the examination. At the end of the 3-hour window, the computer will automatically close the screen from further actions.

Pattern & Marking of Question Papers:

All of GATE – 2015 papers shall contain a total of 65 questions carrying 100 marks, out of which 10 questions carrying a total of 15 marks are in General Aptitude (GA).

In the papers bearing the codes AE, AG, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, IN, ME, MN, MT, PI, TF and XE, the Engineering Mathematics will carry around 15% of the total marks, the General Aptitude section will carry 15% of the total marks and the remaining 70% of the total marks is dedicated  to the subject of the paper.

In the papers bearing the codes AR, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH and XL, the General Aptitude section will carry 15% of the total marks and the remaining 85% of the total marks is devoted to the subject of the paper.

GATE 2015 would contain questions of two different types in various papers:

(i) Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) carrying 1 or 2 marks each in all papers and sections. The questions shall be objective type in nature, and each question will have a choice of four answers, out of which the candidate will have to mark the correct answer(s).

(ii) Numerical Answer Questions of 1 or 2 marks each in all papers and sections.

For these questions, the answer is a real number, to be entered by the candidate using the virtual keypad. The candidates shall not be shown the choices for these types of questions.

 GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS):

An online interface is provided for a candidate’s interaction with the GATE Office. With this interface, he / she can

1. apply for the Examination Online.

2. upload her / his photograph, signature and other documents like graduation certificate/ certificate from Principal, caste certificate (if applicable) etc.

3. pay the Application Fee through Net-banking.

4. check the Status of your application form: Received, Under Scrutiny, Accepted, Defect Status, Status after Rectification, Rejected with Valid Reasons, Admit Card Ready for Download, etc.

5. contact the concerned Zonal GATE Office in case of any queries / problems.

6. download Admit Card.

7. view individual answers, marks and GATE Score.

The login to this interface is through a candidate’s GOAPS Enrolment ID and a GOAPS password. Keep this information safe; the candidate should not disclose it to anyone.
