Indian Navy Application Form 2014 Apply For Short Service Commissioned Officer:

The Indian Navy has issued an Employment Notification to invite Online e-Applications Forms from the unmarried male Engineer candidates for grant of Short Service Commission (SSC) in Executive Branch (General Services / Hydro Cadre) and Technical Branches of the Indian Navy for December 2014 Course at Indian Naval Academy (INA) Ezhimala, Kerala.

The candidates may commence submitting their respective ‘e-applications’ through Online mode for this entry. The candidates may commence applying online (e-application) through the Indian Navy website with effect from the 8th of March, 2014. The online application registration will cease on March 26, 2014. The candidates are advised to refer to the procedure for applying online, as explained in Paragraphs 25 & 26 of the Indian Navy Notification.

Important: Candidates with NCC ‘C’ Certificate will be given preference.

Note: (i) Candidates who are educationally eligible for more than one Branch / Cadre should fill up (apply only one Application Form) and mention their respective priority in the Application Forms.

(ii) Candidates not qualified or appearing in final exam are not eligible to apply.

(iii) Technical branch candidates as mentioned above at Ser. No. (a) & (b) can also be allotted Air Technical Specialization / appointed as Air Technical Officers by IHQ MoD (Navy).

The Indian Navy offers following Duties to the Short Service Commissioned Officers:

1)    Executive Officer

2)    Technical Officer

Executive Officer shall discharge his responsibilities in the following roles (a) General Service Officer and (b) Hydrographic Officer;

Technical Officer shall discharge his responsibilities in the following roles (a) Technical (GS) Branch and (ii) Submarine Specialization.

The Indian Navy offered Posts & Rank wise Promotions:

The Indian Navy shall offer the following ranks to the selected candidates (a) Sub Lieutenant (SLt.), (b) Lieutenant (Lt.), (c) Lieutenant Commander (Lt. Cdr.) and (d) Commander (Cdr.).

Indian Navy granted term for Short Service Commission:

To start with, the Indian Navy grants a Short Service Commission for a term of 10 years, which is extendable to 14 years, subject to service requirement and performance / willingness of the candidate. On completion of these tenures, officers are entitled for gratuity under the extant rules. Disciplined life, leadership qualities and professional skills imbibed during the service would stand as added advantages in acquiring second career, post exit from the Navy.

Selection Procedure:

The Indian Navy shall issue candidates call up for Services Selection Board (SSB) based on their performance in Degree Course. If a candidate possesses higher qualification with better percentage, his higher qualification will be considered for cut off. Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy) reserves the right to shortlist applications and to fix cut off percentage. No communication will be entertained on this account.

Indian Navy Service Selection Board Interview:

The Indian Navy shall schedule the SSB interviews for short listed candidates at Bangalore / Bhopal Coimbatore / Visakhapatnam during May – Oct 2014.

SSB interview will be conducted in two Stages. Stage I test consisting of intelligence test, Picture Perception and Discussion test will be conducted on the second day of arrival at SSB. Candidates who fail to qualify in Stage I will be routed back on the same day. Stage II tests comprising of Psychological testing, Group testing and Interview will last for 04 days. Successful candidates will thereafter undergo Medical Examination (approx duration 03-05 days).

Candidates recommended by the SSB and declared medically fit will be appointed for training as per all India Merit depending on the number of vacancies.

Change of SSB Centre for interview is not permissible under any circumstance.

The Indian Navy has scheduled the commencement of Training in December 2014 at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala. Candidates finally selected for Tech (GS) Branch and Executive (GS) will be inducted as officers in the rank of Sub Lieutenant and undergo 22 & 44 Weeks respectively Naval Orientation Course at the Naval Academy, Ezhimala, followed by professional training in Naval Ships and Training Establishments. Full pay & allowances are admissible to officers whilst under training. They will be on probation for a period of two years, during which they are liable to be discharged if their performance is unsatisfactory.

Candidates finally selected for Submarine Specialization by the Indian Navy, will be inducted as officers in the rank of Sub Lieutenant and undergo a 22 weeks’ Naval Orientation Course at the Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala followed by professional training in other Naval Training Establishments / Ships.

On completion of the training the candidates will be required to pass Submarine Qualifying Board. The candidate who failed to qualify in the Submarine Qualifying Board will not be retained in service. In addition, the candidates will be entitled for Submarine Pay and allowances up to Rs.17,500/- per month, only after qualifying the Submarine Qualifying Board.
