State Institute of Education, on November 10, 2013, held a National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Examination for the students domiciled in the Union Territory Chandigarh.
The State of Institute Education shall confer 85 Scholarship on the students of Union Territory Chandigarh.
NMMS Minimum Qualifying Marks:
The candidates, in order to be eligible for receiving the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship need to obtain the Minimum Qualifying Marks as determined by the State Institute of Education. The State Institute of Education shall draw up a Merit List for the students. The minimum qualifying marks for the general category will be 40% and 32% for the reserved category students to be eligible for award of scholarship.
The National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme is a centrally sponsored initiative launched by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Government of India National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) Scheme. Under this scheme scholarship will be awarded to Rs. 1,00,000 students (at National level) selected at the end of class VIII. The scholarship will start from Class IX and would continue till Class XII at the rate of Rs 6000/- per annum. The objective of the scheme is to award scholarship to meritorious students belonging to economically weaker sections to arrest their drop out at Class VIII and to encourage them to continue their studies till Class XII.
The students for the award of this scholarship will be selected through the State level Test conducted by State Institute of Education, UT Chandigarh for the class VIII students.
