Age Limit (as on 01.01.2013):

The applicant must have attained the age of 21 years and should not be above 25 years

Download of Admission Letter:

Odisha Staff Selection Commission shall upload on its official portal the Admit Letters for the candidates at different stages of the Recruitment Examination (i.e., Preliminary Examination / Mains / Physical Efficiency Test).  Odisha Staff Selection Commission would not dispatch any Hall Tickets to the candidates. The candidates shall be intimated about downloading Call Letters through their Registered email as submitted by them to Odisha Staff Selection Commission.

Eligibility Criteria:

i)      Nationality:

Candidate must be a citizen of India.

General Eligibility Criteria:

ii)     Knowledge in Odia: Candidates must have knowledge of Odia. Candidates must also be able to Speak, Read and Write the Odia language.

a)     Middle School Examination with Odia as a language subject or

b)    Matriculation or Equivalent Examination with Odia as medium of examination in non-language subject; or

c)     Passed in Odia as Language Subject in the final examination of Class VII or above; or

d)    Passed a Test in Odia in Middle English School Standard conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha.

iii)    Marital Status:

A Candidate, if married, must not have more than 1 spouse living

iv)    Physical Fitness

A candidate must be in good mental condition, healthy and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the discharge of his / her duties in the service. A candidate, who after such medical examination, as the Government may prescribe, is not found to satisfy these requirements shall not be appointed to the service. Physical Handicapped persons shall not be eligible for recruitment under these services.  The candidates who possess the minimum physical standard as detailed in Clause 13 (a) are eligible to apply for the post.

v)     Eligibility of Government Employees: Government servants, whether temporary or permanent are eligible to appear in the Examination provided they possess the requisite qualifications and are within the prescribed age limit.  Applications from the Government servants shall, however, be rejected unless submitted through proper channel.

Examination Fee:

Candidates other than SC / ST need to deposit Examination Fee of Rs. 100/-

Examination Plan:

The Competitive Examination will comprise the following

i)      Preliminary Test of 100 marks (Qualifying only)

ii)     Physical Measurement and Physical Test (Qualifying only)

iii)    Main Written Test comprising 3 papers totaling 300 marks and 4 papers of 500 marks for Station Officer;

iv)    Weight age of marks for NCC Certificate holders and achievements in Sports for all the posts / Degree of Diploma in Fire Engineering (to the post of Station Officer / Fire Services only);

v)     Viva-voce-cum-Psychological Test of 30 marks. Inspector.

The candidates who would qualify in the Preliminary Examination shall be called by Odisha Staff Selection Commission for Physical Efficiency Test.  Those who will qualify the Physical Test would then be summoned by Odisha Staff Selection Commission in the Written Examination. The marks obtained by the candidates shall not be counted for ranking.

The candidates who obtained such minimum qualifying marks in the Written part, NCC Certificate Marks and marks secured for achievement in Sports of the examination as may be fixed by the Commission at their discretion, would be called for Viva-voce-cum-Psychological Test.

Preliminary Test (Qualifying only)

Odisha Staff Selection Commission shall conduct a Preliminary Test for the candidates on February 16, 2014, which shall be of qualifying nature only.  The candidates shall be informed of the time and venue through the website of Odisha Staff Selection Commission only.

The Preliminary Examination shall consist of 100 Multiple Choice Questions, which will have a duration of 60 minutes only.

The Multiple Choice Questions shall have to be answered in OMR sheet.

The questions will be set proportionately from General Science, Current Events of national and international importance, History of India and Odisha, Fundamentals of English Grammar, Arithmetic of High School Certificate standard, Problem solving and Reasoning Ability. Odisha Staff Selection Commission, at their discretion may adopt Negative Marking @0.25 per wrong answer in this examination.  If Negative marking is adopted, it will be clearly reflected on the front page of the Question Paper.  Moreover, the Odisha Staff Selection Commission may also adopt a Cut off Mark in the Preliminary Examination.  Candidates numbering about 12 times of the vacancies in each reserved and unreserved categories of posts will be called for Physical Test.

Main / (Written) Examination (Total 300 / 500 marks)

The candidates having qualified in the Main / Written Examination will be allowed to appear in the Written Test, which will comprise the following Pattern:
