UPSC Civil Services (Preliminary) Exam 2016 Application Notification:

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) notified Recruitment Notice in respect of the Civil Services (Prelim) Exam 2016 and Indian Forest Service (Prelim) Exam 2016 through Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2016 scheduled to be conducted on the 7th of August 2016 (07.08.2016).

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) have the details for the candidates aspiring for recruitment under various Ministries under the Union Government and State Governments across India (enumerated in the subsequent Tabular Format, are as hereunder:

Online Registration Schedule:

Online Registration shall commence on the 23rd of April 2016 (23.04.2016).

The Deadline of Online Registration by the Candidates is the 20th of May 2016 (20.05.2016).

The Union Public Service Commission shall conduct on the 7th of August 2016 (07.08.2016), All India Online Written Examination for the candidates in various parts of the country.

Final Selection of the Candidates shall be for Recruitment in the Departments as under cited:

e-Admit Cards / Hall Tickets:

The Union Public Service Commission shall upload on the UPSC Website the e-Admission Certificates / Hall Exam Tickets Three Weeks Prior to the Commencement of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2016.

Age Limit:

A candidate should have attained the age of 21 Years but must not have attained the age of 32 Years on the 1st of August, 2016; i.e., he/she must have been born neither earlier than the 2nd of August, 1984 (02.08.1984) but not later than the 1st of August, 1995 (01.08.1995).

The Candidates belonging to Reserved Categories seeking Relaxation in Upper Age Limit are advised to carefully read the detailed Notification likely to be issued in January 2016.

Educational Qualification:

The candidate must hold a Degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University Under Section – 3 of the University Grants Commission Act (UGCA), 1956, or possess an Equivalent Qualification.

Selection Procedure:

The Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2016 shall consist of Two Successive Stages; viz., (i) Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (Objective Type) for the selection of the candidates for the Main Examination; and (ii) Civil Services (Main) Examination (Written and Interview) for various Services and posts noted above. The Union Public Service Commission shall draw up the All India Merit List of the Candidates based on the Sufficient High Marks obtained both in the Civil Services (Main) Examination and Personality Test.

Scheme of the Online Written Examination:

The Objective-Type Multiple Choice Questions printed in the Test Booklet Series A, B, C & D Series shall contain the Objective-Type Multiple Choice Questions:

Penalty for Wrong Answers:

There will be Penalty for Wrong Answers marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Papers mentioned with Each Test Booklet containing the Objective-Type Multiple Choice Questions in English and Hindi Languages as hereunder:

  1. There are four alternatives for the answer to every question printed on the Optical Markup Reader (OMR) Sheet. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate, One-third of the Marks assigned to that Question will be deducted as penalty.
  2. If a candidate gives more than one answer, it will be treated as a wrong answer, even if one of the given answers happens to be correct, yet there will be the same penalty to that question.
  3. If a question is left point blank by the candidate, i.e., no answer is given by him / her, there will be no penalty for that question.

Civil Services Main Examination (Civil Services / Indian Forest Service) 2016:

The Candidates declared Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination / Indian Forest Service (Preliminary) Examination through Civil Services (Prelim) Exam, 2016 Qualified shall be eligible to appear for the Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination / Civil Services (Main) Examination 2016 scheduled to be held in November and December 2016.

The Main Written Examination for both Civil Services and Indian Forest Service to be of QUALIFYING NATURE shall be as hereunder:

Application Fee:

The Candidates (excepting Female / SC/ST / PH Candidates are exempted from payment of the Fee) have to pay a Fee of Rs. 100/- (Rupees One Hundred only) either in cash (by depositing the money) at any Branch of the State Bank of India by cash, or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India / State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur / State Bank of Hyderabad / State Bank of Mysore / State Bank of Patiala / State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa / Master Credit / Debit Card.
