UPSC CMS Syllabus & Exam Scheme 2016

The Union Public Service Commission shall initiate w.e.f. the 5th of March 2016 inviting Online Application Forms from the Indian nationals across India.

The Last Date for Online Registration by the candidates is the 01st  of April 2016.

The forthcoming Union Public Service Commission Combined Medical Services (CMS) Examination – 2016 shall consist of Two Test Papers; i.e.,

(I) General Ability, General Medicine & Pediatrics Paper-I:

First Test Paper General Ability, General Medicine & Pediatrics comprising 120 Objective-Type Multiple Choice Questions with duration of Two (02) Hours shall carry 250 Marks with Negative Marking.

(II) Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics and Preventive, Social & Community Medicine Paper – II:

First Test Paper Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics and Preventive, Social & Community Medicine comprising 120 Objective-Type Multiple Choice Questions with duration of Two (02) Hours shall carry 250 Marks with Negative Marking.

Penalty for Wrong Answers:

There will be Penalty for Wrong Answers marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Papers as mentioned hereunder:

  1. There are four alternatives for the answer to every question printed on the Optical Markup Reader (OMR) Sheet. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate, One-third of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty.
  2. If a candidate gives more than one answer, it will be treated as a wrong answer, even if one of the given answers happens to be correct, yet there will be the same penalty to that question.
  3. If a question is left blank by the candidate, i.e., no answer is given by him / her, there will be no penalty for that question.

There will be penalty for wrong answers marked in the Objective Test. For each question, a wrong answer having been given by the candidate shall attract ¼th (One-fourth) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score. No marks would be deducted for questions not attempted by the candidates. There shall be Penalty for Wrong Answers, as 1/3rd (One-third) marks shall be deducted for every wrong Answer submitted by the candidates.
