Examination Pattern / Structure:
The Entrance Examination will comprise 3 papers and all of them would be objective (Multiple Objective Choice) in nature. The Written Examination will be organized on 15 Dec, 2013. All Three papers will carry a Maximum of 350 marks. The categorization is provided below:
This paper will have Sixty Questions. The candidates need to attempt 50 questions out of a total 60 questions presented in the Paper. The Paper 1 will commence at 9: 30 AM and end at 10:45 AM. This paper will carry 100 marks. Each correct answer will get two marks.
This paper will comprise 50 questions. Each correct answer will carry two marks. All 50 questions are are compulsory to answer. The paper will begin soon after the Paper 1gets over. The paper will begin at 10:45 AM and continue till12-noon. The paper will be given weight of 100 marks.
The paper will start after a gap of one and half hour from the paper 2 that is from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM. This paper will contain a total of 75 questions. Each correct answer will be given 2 marks. All the questions are compulsory to answer.
Outline of Topics ask in Exam:
Paper 1 will comprise Reasoning Ability, Teaching Aptitude, Comprehension, General Awareness and Logical Thinking types questions. Some questions may also be from interpretation of data, numerical ability and computers.
Papers 2 and 3 will have Comprehensive Questions from the subjects chosen by candidates for the Exam. A complete Syllabus of the West Bengal SET is on a par with UGC NET course outline.
Process of Selection:
The selection will depend upon the candidate’s overall performance in all three papers. A candidates is must secure 40% marks in paper 1 & paper 2 and 50% in paper 3 (applicable for General Candidates) for passing the examination. There is a relaxation in the cutoffs marks for the OBC, PD, ST and SC students.
The preparation of merit will be done in keeping with the thorough performance of candidates in all the papers and out of total passed candidates only top15% shall be declared qualified for the SET.
